Take part in the Plantain challenge!

Published on January 8, 2014 by Eléonore in News

Hello everyone, and thank you so much for your wonderful welcome to the Plantain pattern! The download counter went crazy, and I look forward to seeing all your beautiful versions!

And to continue with the good news, I would like to organize a little challenge… wether you are a beginner with knits, or more experienced, let’s create your unique version of  Plantain – minimalistic or super crazy!

The challenge

Sew your own interpretation of the Plantain t-shirt, by following the pattern exactly or modifying it any way you like (lengthened into a tunic or dress, in different colors, by adding details, modifying the sleeves… the possibilities are endless!).

The schedule

You have until January 31 at midnight (UTC+1) to publish your creation (on your blog, on Flickr, on Kollabora…) and to send me the link at the following adress: . You can submit as many projects as you want within the allocated time :)

The lovely price

It seems like Plantain is a gift that keeps on giving! At the end of the challenge, the team will select the 9 cutest projects and submit them to your votes. Your favorite project will win 80 euro ($109) in gift certificates!

* Shipping and special offers not included

The criteria

The goal of this challenge is, above all, to have fun no matter what your skills are! The selection criterion will simply be the overall look and the originality of your project (but that doesn’t mean it has to be complex: a nice combination of textures, colors, or a cute detail could make the difference).

Are you ready to conquer knit fabrics? Don’t hesitate to also share your projects on the Deer&Doe Flickr group!

I would love to participate. Is Instagram also okay for sharing the finished project(s)?

    Best regards

Instagram is okay, but I fear the pictures will be of a lesser quality, and the garment would not be as visible as it could have been with a bigger / better picture :)

It seems to be the time for challenges and sew/knit-alongs. This will go well with the Mystery Knit-a-long that starts on the 13th. Looks like I’ll have some new wardrobe additions by month’s end. Thanks!

Already have my eye on some prints from Les Trouvailles d’Amandine! Do they ship to the US? If I can get my sewing act together I am definitely in!

    • Eléonore

Yes, they ship to US :) . Don’t hesitate if you have questions, all the Deer&Doe patterns in the store are made with Les Trouvailles d’Amandine fabrics, so I know the products well :)

I have not been that great at my output as far as sewing goes (I have three kids), but I have worked really hard on getting organized and am pretty determined this year :)

I’m new to sewing with knits, but can’t resist a challenge. If my sewing machine cooperates and no disasters turn me and my fabric into a sorry mess, I’ll post my results.

I just made one today! My first time sewing with knits and it was a success! I haven’t posted it yet, but I’m guessing Burdastyle is an ok place to post.
